get searchfast running in 3 simple steps.
1. download & install
download searchfast from above and drag it to your applications folder.
requires macos 14+ for best performance.
2. grant permissions
searchfast needs a few key permissions to work its magic. don't worry - it will guide you through this:
accessibility access
this lets searchfast access 25+ apps across your mac and enables it to see + work from anywhere.
• system settings → privacy & security → accessibility
• click the lock icon and enter your password
• find searchfast in the list and make sure it's enabled
• if it's not there, click + and add searchfast
screen recording access
this is how searchfast "sees" your screen to provide contextual assistance.
• system settings → privacy & security → screen recording
• enable searchfast in the list
• restart searchfast after enabling
3. start using searchfast
once permissions are set up, you're ready to go!
keyboard shortcut
press cmd+shift+space from anywhere to activate searchfast
background activity
searchfast runs quietly in the background, ready whenever you need it.
troubleshooting
searchfast won't start
make sure you've granted both accessibility and screen recording permissions. restart the app after enabling permissions.
keyboard shortcut not working
check if another app is using cmd+shift+space. you can customize the shortcut in searchfast preferences.
